“유유히 흐르는 어느 아름다운 강물엔 
수천 마리 새끼들을 사랑한 엄마 물고기의 이야기가 흐르고 있네
이 마음씨 고운 물고기의 슬픈 사랑의 이야기“

알을 품은 엄마 물고기는 사랑으로 충만했다오
자기 살과 피를 먹여서 기르리라 생각했다오
유유히 흐르는 강물 속에 슬픈 사연 함께 흐르네
엄마 물고기의 눈물이 강물 되어 흐르네
소리 내어 강물은 흐느끼며 오늘도 흐르고 있네
엄마 물고기의 눈물이 강물 되어 흐르네

“알에서 깨어난 새끼들은 엄마 물고기의 연한 살을 뜯어 먹으며 자랐다오.
엄마 물고기는 빌고 빌었다오 
사랑하는 새끼들아
부지런히 나의 살을 먹고 예쁘게 자라다오.“

우리 엄마 사랑은 크시다고 
외치면서 달려들었다오
단단한 속살까지 먹혔다오 
가시뼈만 남은 엄마
유유히 흐르는 강물 속에 
슬픈 사연 함께 흐르네

The Life of a Certain Fish

"Once upon a time
In a lovely river flowing serenely
There also flows the story
Of a certain mother fish
And how much she loved her thousands of baby fish
This is the sad love story
Of the gentle-hearted mother fish"

The mother fish was filled with love and eager anticipation for the birth of her babies
She would raise them by feeding them her flesh and blood

But this sad story flows together
With the flowing serene river

The tears of the mother fish
Have become the river water
Flowing, flowing

The river weeps aloud even today
As it flows on and on
The tears of the mother fish
Have become the river water
Flowing, flowing

"The baby fish that were finally born
Grew by eating the tender flesh of their mother
The mother fish urged them on
'My beloved babies
Diligently eat my flesh and grow beautifully strong'"

The baby fish clamored about How great their mother's love was
And continued to eat away at her flesh even more
They even ate into her firm inner flesh
Only the bones remained of this mother fish

And within the serene lake flowing on and on
Also flows the sad story of the mother fish
